Press release -
Jørgen Berg Dahl new medical director at Falck
As of 1 September 2019, Falck’s Danish ambulance business has hired former professor and chief physician Jørgen Berg Dahl as new medical director.
”Jørgen is a first-rate physician and will be able to increase Falck’s healthcare efforts and strongly impact Falck’s progress within the prehospital area and the training of our employees – for the benefit of both employees and patients,” says Jørgen Mieritz, Head of Ambulance in Falck Denmark.
The employment of Jørgen Berg Dahl is part of Falck’s increased efforts within healthcare. Other initiatives include intensified training of ambulance instructors, setting up a research network for ambulance staff, employment of a Phd-student and ISO9001-certification.
As medical director, Jørgen will oversee the development of instructions for ambulance staff and ensure that all healthcare tasks are carried out within the framework of the regional guidelines. Also, Jørgen will be supervisor on ambulance services, offer professional training for ambulance staff and be mentor for future Phd-students.
”For a large part of my career, I have been in contact with the emergency medical services and the prehospital area, among other things I worked 10 years as an emergency ambulance physician. As medical director, I now get the opportunity to use my experience from the hospital world to ensure and strengthen Falck’s healthcare work, which I so far only know from the outside. I believe that a closer contact between ambulance staff and physicians will strengthen the prehospital efforts in Denmark in general, and it is also in line with the development within the healthcare system where more and more healthcare issues are solved outside of the hospital,” says Jørgen Berg Dahl.
Most recently, Jørgen was head of anesthesiology at Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospitals. He is a trained anesthesiologist and through his long career he has had positions not only as a physician, but also as department head in charge of research at several hospitals. Jørgen has also worked as professor at Rigshospitalet and the University of Copenhagen. He is still an active researcher, especially within pain management, with a substantial number of publications on his résumé. Finally, Jørgen is experienced within the prehospital work from 10 years as emergency ambulance physician in the Capital Region.
Jørgen Berg Dahl will work as medical director for Falck Ambulance Denmark, while Falck’s present medical director, Lars Bak Nielsen, will be medical director in the subsidiary Responce. Thus, the two directors will work together to handle Falck’s and Responce’s responsibility for delegation of medical competencies and the statutory medical supervision.
