Falck wins emergency ambulance contract in San Diego
Falck US Ambulance Services will provide emergency ambulance services to the city of San Diego in California for the next five years. The contract has now formally been approved by the city council and Mayor Todd Gloria.
From 28 November 2021, 1.4 million people in San Diego will receive ambulance services from Falck. The five-year contract has now been formally approved by the city council and by the Mayor of San Diego Todd Gloria after a thorough tendering process. As part of the contract, Falck will also serve the approximately 30 million tourists that visit the city each year.
Chief Commercial Officer for Falck US, Troy Hagen says: “We are very pleased and thankful that the city of San Diego has chosen to put their trust in Falck. We look forward to serving the City and its residents with advanced, high-quality ambulance and community healthcare services. As one of the worlds largest and oldest ambulance service providers we are in a unique position to deliver faster response times, new safety features for patients and providers, and innovative programmes to all San Diegans.”
As a part of the contract, Danish paramedics will travel to San Diego to share experiences and help build the Falck culture.
CEO: Strong presence in Denmark paves the way for international growth
The new contract with San Diego underscores that Danish healthcare solutions are in demand internationally. According to CEO of Falck, Jakob Riis, Falck’s export opportunities are closely linked to Falck’s strong local presence in Denmark.
CEO of Falck Jakob Riis says: “Our strong presence in our domestic market is a key enabler for us to export Falck’s ambulance solutions to other countries. We have cooperated with the Regions in Denmark to develop one of the leading ambulance services in the world and that is a great starting point for having a dialogue with potential customers. This fall we will send a team of paramedics to San Diego to support our colleagues in the US in the start-up phase of the contract.”
Falck currently provides ambulance services to 4 states in the US and operates approximately 400 US ambulances and employs more than 2000 American emergency response professionals.
