Falck divests medical clinics in Denmark

The divestment is part of the strategic simplification of the business and in the future Falck Healthcare in Denmark will focus on healthcare for the prevention and rapid examination and remediation of disease

Falck is in the process of adjusting its business to focus on the Group's core activities. Therefore, Falck is now selling its 12 medical clinics in Falck Lægehuse (Falck Medical Centres) and the associated companies, the employment agency VikTeam and Sirculus which offers psychiatric treatment. Falck announced in February that the company initiated a strategic review of its medical centre business.

"We are simplifying the Healthcare business in line with what we want with Falck in the future. In the healthcare area in Denmark, Falck will focus on healthcare for the prevention and rapid remediation of workplace-related disease. Annually, more than one million treatments are being carried out through our 135 clinics," says Jakob Riis, CEO of Falck.

"Private medical clinics definitely has a potential, but we consider it to be far from our core business. We are pleased that we have found a buyer who has this as a main focus and who takes over the business and the commitments we have had to the regions and not least to the people who come to the medical centres daily," he explains.

Falck has also initiated a strategic review of two other employment agencies as the last step of focusing this part of the business, whereas the core business in Falck Healthcare remains.

"It is an important business area which we want to keep and develop," emphasizes Jakob Riis.

Experienced buyer
The buyer of the medical centres is Thomas Helt, who has experience with business development and an in-depth knowledge of the industry as a founder of Quick Care and later from Falck, where he has worked with the medical clinics as well.

"I am very pleased to have made this agreement with Falck regarding the acquisition of the medical clinics. It's a business which I am interested in and have experience with and I look forward to continuing the cooperation with the regions and the citizens who use the clinics," says Thomas Helt.

"I would also like to continue the development of services for citizens with psychiatric needs in Denmark and we will have the opportunity to do that in Sirculus."

He takes over the businesses through his company. Managing director Linda Matzen as well as all the approx. 100 employees will continue under the new ownership.

Sirculus offers psychiatric treatment and related advice and guidance for municipalities, regions, insurance companies, individuals and businesses.
VikTeam provides medical staff to Falck Lægehuse and hospitals in Scandinavia.
