Falck wins contract to provide fire and rescue services at Bodo Airport in Norway

Falck will be providing fire and rescue services at the airport of Bodø, Norway, from August.

Falck has won a contract for operating fire and rescue services at Bodo Airport in northern Norway in a tender process involving several other players. The contract was awarded based on an evaluation of price and quality.

Bodo Airport is the biggest airport in Norway’s Nordland province and accommodates both military and civil aviation. The Norwegian air force is currently in charge of the airport, but government corporation Avinor will take over this responsibility from August 2016, and activities of a defence nature will be scaled down.

Prior to Avinor’s takeover of operations, Falck has won the contract for operating the airport’s fire and rescue services.

Falck has more than 100 years of experience and is today the world’s largest private fire services provider. Falck’s existing contracts include fire and rescue services at the airports of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Lisbon, Portugal.

The fire and rescue service at Bodo Airport will be staffed 24/7/365. This is the first time Avinor chooses a third-party provider of fire and rescue services at a Norwegian airport.

The contract will run for a term of two years, with an option for a two-year extension.
